Rallying has been on a decline in the realms of popular motorsport recently, for reasons that I have no idea of. The concept of rallying has to be the most exciting of any motorsport as (despite the pace notes) the driver and co-driver are never 100 per cent sure on what’s around the corner.
Throw in classic cars (generally only two wheel drive) and you have a recipe for excellent viewing. This shot was taken at the 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed’s rally course just before the flying finish. The sound of the 911’s flat six howling and echoing in the forest is something I won’t forget quickly.
